A woman strides, determined in her effort to cross the street, with bold steps and confidence. Where is she going? It's best to make it quick, as the traffic light is just about to change.
In Tune
There is a wonderful movement
Enhanced by the music above
In a concrete valley
With no outer space
Unless you can fly
To another place
Why do I like it?
Why do I like it?
Put the music back on
And she is dancing
She "is" dancing
Why do I think she is dancing?
Because she is
But I cannot figure it out
Pick fault and see if it will turn on a light
It's an off kilter Cartier-Bresson
And something is not right
Time stands still
But the "Tick Tock"
Gives me a thrill
She moves like a dancer
Or a soldier marching wrong
It's the right arm that should be outstretched
Praise be to the Lord
And the beauty of that song
But
On closer inspection
I found it's untrue
The right leg is forward
So I guess her trousers were blue
And with all being bright
And the play of the light
It made me think she was dancing in tune
There is a wonderful movement
Enhanced by the music above
In a concrete valley
With no outer space
Unless you can fly
To another place
Why do I like it?
Why do I like it?
Put the music back on
And she is dancing
She "is" dancing
Why do I think she is dancing?
Because she is
But I cannot figure it out
Pick fault and see if it will turn on a light

Waiting At A Crossing

Descriptions:
I saw the young woman, waiting for a date perhaps, in the middle of the crowds of Times Square, New York.
New York is filled with endless possibilities for the great street portrait; in this case, a man I glimpsed while I was about to cross the street. Never leave home without your camera!
A young girl on a bus in New York City, a brief respite from a pouring rain, and thoughts perhaps beyond her years. The other passengers seem jaded, or just impatient to get home. Just another day in New York City.
This is a variation - probably a better photo - of my pic, Pretty Girl in the Crowd - Times Square - New York, which can be found <> HERE <>
Just shows you what taking a second look at your files can find. The text from the first pic also applies here: I came upon this pretty girl in the midst of the crowds of Times Square, New York, NY. Somehow she caught my gaze and wouldn't stop looking, as I randomly perused the masses of people enjoying their Friday night in the city.
Perfect Day
These beautiful five-petaled blooms grace a tree in springtime, lovely to contemplate deep in a snowy day in winter.

From the Winter in New York - Gallery
The cool blues of a New York City snowfall dust the tops of a fire escape and marshmallow the parked cars like so many snowball candies in a row. Yellow cabs make their way gingerly down the slush of the gutter, as lone pedestrians make for the warm glow of the corner shops. Just another snow day in New York.
A snowy day in Manhattan, a window steamy with fog, people walking by. "Perfect Day" for a photo.

Finding myself in Manhattan as the storm arrived, I hunkered down with an everything bagel, coffee and tripod, followed advice to stay indoors, and pointed my camera out the window. Here's what the "Snow Show" looked like (at 6 p.m. Friday) from a window in the city.
Geordie's Thoughts.
The snow on the walkway would suggest that the above photograph was taken first and the photograph that includes the taxi was taken after.

Wending our way through the thickening snow, shoes not quite soaked, yet, as the snow is still a powdery cover on the street, but soon, it will be close to a foot high. Better get home quick. It's cold!
This charming antique fire hydrant graces the streets of New York through the dog days of summer and the blowing snows of winter in the city that never sleeps. A sentry of safety, this vintage silent sentinel stands ready to serve the people of New York should the need arise, anytime, night or day, rain or snow.
This gallery is dedicated to all those times I sloshed through the snow on my way to and from work, all the while loving every second of it. New York in winter can be a magical place.
