NYC Photographer Miriam Danar Makes NY1 Picture Of The Day For Eighth Time

After submitting images for over a year, her "Brooklyn Diner" was finally picked in mid-August 2013, with seven more following in the ensuing months, including two published during last year's and this year's opening of the United Nations General Assembly. Her latest newspic, View of the UN and Tudor City, ran on television and online for two days as NY1's Picture of the Day. She found out from a friend's text that her submission from the night before had been published and shown on television early on Sept. 23 and continued through Sept. 24th.

The artist is grateful to the television station for choosing her work out of many entries, and looks forward to continuing contributions. "New York is an infinite source of inspiration offering images that are newsworthy and informative to viewers; one reason why I never leave the house without my camera!"

Miriam's photography is currently on view at the Museum of Arts and Culture in New Rochelle, NY through Oct. 24th, 2014, in the exhibit, "Jungles: NYC & Panama." The Museum is the only state-sponsored museum on a school and is in the New Wing of New Rochelle High School.

Title:  United Nations Building At Nightfall With Chrysler Building Reflection

Description:  As night falls after a spectacular sunset over the East River, the reflected image of the Chrysler Building deepens in the green-tinted glass facade of the United Nations Secretariat - two famous structures not far from each other. Tudor City, looming large from street-level, looks tiny from above. Just another dusky night in the city.

New York City Photography - shooting the Big Apple - has always been my passion. I see both crystalline city scapes - cut-glass jewels of light - and the moody Noir that's always been a part of our city and our psyche. Noir, in fact, never left. Lucky for us!

Find me at Focal Point - Photography by Miriam Danar: by clicking the picture link in the following post.

A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and historic Art Students League, Miriam exhibits in NY, Los Angeles, and online. Her Patch network galleries appear throughout the Eastern US, and she has been interviewed on radio and television about her urban photography. Miriam frequently makes "Picture of the Day" on NY1 TV. She was an artist from an early age; Norman Rockwell gave her a gold star in high school. Miriam dedicates all sales to the care of her mother, an amazing woman living an inspirational life.

From the street to the sublime, Miriam reveals a New York that travelers fondly recall and city dwellers secretly adore. She knows that the drama of Film Noir never left, to be found in the shadows or any sunlit street corner, yet Miriam also sees music in the details of an ordinary building. From "City Lights" to "Urban Details" and "Sun and Shadow,” Miriam balances the decorative with the introspective, offering solace for house and home, mind, heart, and soul.
